Steps for Accurate Testing
- Prepare: Purchase high-quality pH test strips (an ideal range is 4.5–9.0 for saliva).
- Timing: Consistency is key. Wait at least two hours after eating, drinking, or brushing your teeth to avoid temporary spikes or drops.
- Collect Sample: Spit saliva into a clean spoon or directly onto the strip.
- Test: Dip the test strip into the saliva for 2–3 seconds.
- Wait: Allow 15–30 seconds (or as specified by your brand) for the color to stabilize.
- Read: Compare the strip color to the reference chart below.
